Hello. Before I start my own investing project, I thought it would be a good idea to read about some problems I should be aware about before I start my project. So, here are 3 disadvantages of a Stock Simulator From Investopedia!

  1. Complacency

Novice traders (like me) can be fooled into thinking that they are good at trading stocks after a hot streak of investments on their simulator. The real world trading enviroment has unaccountable variables that are not part of a virtual simulator. So, traders should be wary and not complcent whent they start trading with real money.

2. Risky Strategies

Since there is not actual money at stake, investors using simulators may pick up bad strategies that are hard to drop out of in the real world. This is why we must be vigilant and always be in the mindset that the money we are investing has real weight.

3. The lack of an "Investing Pschology"

In a simulated enviroment, temptation to take profits early is easy to resist unlike in the real world where our fear that a winning position may turn into a losing one is always in the back of our minds.

In conclusion, an economic simulators lack the power to strike fear into the heart of it's investors which could lead to the cultivation of bad habbits and, when transferring to a real trading enviroment, could be detrimental to an investor's profits. We must be careful and vigilent when using stock simulators and invest like the money is real to achieve 100% potential of the stock simulator.
